Flawsome is a term which describes an individual who embraces their “flaws” and knows they are awesome regardless. It’s meant to encourage confidence and acceptance in individuals. In a world that is trying to keep up with the Kardashians, it’s refreshing to take a different stance in life. Try instead to keep up with being yourself. Focus on your personality, what makes you awesome and share that with the world.

Here are three steps you can take today to become flawsome.

  1. Mirror mirror on the wall:  Look at yourself and find gratitude for what you see. Yes, you can wear make-up to highlight your features. Yes, you can diet to become healthier.  However, regardless of where you start and where you finish, feeling gratitude for yourself has to be constant every step of the way.
  2. Haters gonna hate: That’s right.  You can rest assure that someone in your life has something negative to say.  These are the people that will find something wrong no matter what. Often, these individuals are unhappy with themselves, so they spend time trying to bring others down to feel better about themselves. If their opinions are not constructive, and there to help you; instead they are hurtful, then let their feedback roll off your shoulder.  Don’t invest in arguing with them and don’t let their negativity get you down. Instead, move forward with your head held high. Limit the time you spend with them, if possible.
  3. Mission complete: Flawsome is achieved when you work hard to accomplish your mission in life. However, you can’t achieve anything without failure. Therefore, embrace your failures, and allow those moment to teach you a lesson.  Get back up and try again. Continue until you are satisfied with what you have accomplished.

You see part of being “Flawsome” is also understanding that there are two sides to everything. Benefits and drawbacks.  All is meant to guide you into becoming your best self.

“Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.” – Neil deGrasse Tyson

One of the main reasons for starting this blog was to help empower individuals. Nothing is more empowering than searching deeper within for guidance and understanding in order to raise awareness of our surrounding, community, earth, and the universe. When I first read Neil deGrasse Tyson’s quote my immediate thought was gratitude. Gratitude because I am part of something so amazing. Gratitude because this complex connection is nothing I had to work for or earn, it simply was given to me.  It has been given to you.  This scientific experiment we call LIFE, is one we get to enjoy, be a part of, and fully experience.

Everything here on earth and in the universe is connected.  We are connected to these things. Therefore, in order to understand who we are we must tap into these sources and learn to emanate our life from this source.

Another genius who explains this concept further is Albert Einstein. In one of his famous quotes he states, “Look deep into nature and then you will understand everything.” In his exemplary career, he did just that. He studied all of the elements and brilliantly created formulas to explain Scientific Laws of Nature. “His big idea, special relativity, involved two major hypotheses:

1. The laws of physics are the same everywhere. So on Earth we deal with the same laws of light and gravity as something, or someone, way out in the universe. It’s all relative, you might say.

2. The speed of light is a constant.

A lot of modern physics — and many discoveries — stemmed from these ideas. Einstein figured out that the faster an object moves, the more massive it becomes. That means that, in theory, no object can ever reach 100 percent of the speed of light because its mass would become infinite. This relationship is expressed in the equation E=mc^2, where E is energy, m is mass, and c is the speed of light.”

In order to tap into a deeper understanding of this connection I have to mention the creator of the universe. For me it is God, for others it might be a higher power. Whatever one calls it, all of this exist and it is all connected because of this greatest source called love (1 John 4:8).  In my mind I want to believe that love is the fabric that holds it all together. In many religions, this source is also described as light.

John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Proverbs 6:23 For the mitzvah is a lamp, Torah is light, and reproofs that discipline are the way to life.

Quran 24:35 “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The parable of His Light is a niche wherein is a lamp — the lamp is in a glass, the glass as it were a glittering star — lit from a blessed olive tree, neither eastern nor western, whose oil almost lights up, though fire should not touch it. Light upon light! Allah guides to His Light whomever He wishes. Allah draws parables for mankind, and Allah has knowledge of all things.”

Definition of light in Budhhism “God Almighty (Brahman) resides within all humans as Light, a fact that is supported by all scriptures. Thus we can meditate on Him within and that long search for the Creator is at last over, ending within ourselves. That is why Jesus kept telling the ignorant masses two millennia ago that the Kingdom of God is within.

Interestingly enough, Einstein explains that the only thing that can reach infinity is that which travels at the speed of light. The special theory of relativity also demonstrate how light is connected to energy, which is what we are – layers of vibrating energy each with its own specific vibration and purpose.

What does this all mean? Simple put is that we are one, living in a constant exchange of information powered by love and light. Scientifically light is nature’s way of transferring energy through space. Similarly every cell in our body is changing, and experiencing growth or death, as well as exchanging with other internal elements.  Externally the same occurs, we are connected and ever evolving.

This explains that whatever we think we might be controlling in life is simply an illusion. We have certain inputs, but living life to the fullest is about allowing oneself to flow.  Flow with nature, flow with circumstances, flow with  light, flow with life. To flow is also about digging deeper for this kind of understanding.  To study this exchange, aiming to find that balance, and appreciating all of it – yourself, earth, and the universe.  Most importantly, the source that powers it all, God.

As you ponder on this information, take time to find gratitude of your existence. You can accomplish this by taking a moment and sitting still, meditate, pray, and tap into nature for more answers. Look deep into it and allow it to speak to you.
